Apple Pie - Autumn Sensory Play

This sensory play set up is so easy to create and super fun for Autumn.

To re-create it all you need is:

– Oats
– Cinnamon sticks
– Red pom poms
– Sensory tools
– Small pie dish

– Wooden apple, cutting board and knife (optional)

The oats offer a different texture to more common sensory bases like rice or pasta, which some children may prefer, while the cinnamon adds another sensory layer.

The pie dish is from our IKEA DUKTIG baking set, which also comes with a cake tin, an oven tray, a rolling pin and some cookie cutters. It worked out perfect for this set up.

My daughter enjoyed “creating” her little pie by scooping and pouring oats into the pie dish, and then adding her “apple pieces” (pom poms) and cinnamon as decorations.

Be sure to extend this work to your kitchen and invite your little one to bake a real apple pie with you!
