Animal Washing

If you’re looking for a super simple, low prep but engaging activity, this is it.

All you need is a bowl with soapy water and some animal figurines! Toddlers love this activity!

My daughter was 17 months old when we first did this activity and at the age of 4 she still loves it!

Remember your little one(s) can help you prepare this activity.

Cleaning up is part of the learning process, so make sure to encourage your child to tidy up after they finish playing. Model how to do it until your child feels confident enough to initiate the tidying up process independently.

Bringing play to life:

  • Increase the fun by going on a hunt around the house for items that could use a little washing!
  • If you don’t have a sensory table, wash the animal figurines in the bath or even outside in a large bowl?
  • How about inviting the child to take part in washing a pet? That is, of course, if you know the pet is friendly and well-behaved during those times…
