DIY Matching Game

I made this simple DIY matching game using a Melissa & Doug animal stamp set and some Jenga blocks. You can choose any theme your child is interested in. Find a variety of Melissa & Doug stamps here for any theme you choose to go with.

I stamped each end of the block to create a pattern. I then traced the blocks on the paper and added the matching patterns.

I used these animal stamps because they were small enough for the blocks and since animals are always a hit with A, I knew it would peak her interest. You can use whatever theme appeals to your little one. Colors and shapes are also great alternatives.

Matching games are an engaging way to strengthen visual memory, increase short-term memory, improve concentration and attention to detail, all while absorbing new vocabulary.

Cleaning up is part of the learning process, so make sure to encourage your child to tidy up after they finish playing. Model how to do it until your child feels confident enough to initiate the tidying up process independently.
