Fossil

This simple fossil kit was such a fun collaborative activity! My daughter and I took turns doing the excavating and it took us nearly a week to complete it. It was a sort of work-in-progress project that we were doing together after school for a few minutes each day.

We would work on it around 10 minutes each day. A would dig for around 2.5 to 3 minutes and I would do a little bit too.

Working together on our little project after school became a bonding experience for us and another opportunity for extended learning. She got to experience collaboration, develop concentration and work on being patient and I got to watch her pure joy and excitement every time a new part of the fossil was revealed. Priceless.

Cleaning up is part of the learning process, so make sure to encourage your child to tidy up after they finish playing. Model how to do it until your child feels confident enough to initiate the tidying up process independently.
