When my daughter was 20 months old she was very much working on the typical toddler work: fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, shape and color recognition, language development and was certainly showing an interest in open-ended play.
Here’s a look at what was on her shelf at the time based on my observations of her interests.
On top (open-ended play):
⋒ Stacking rainbow and house
⋒ Peg family
⋒ Wooden vehicles
⋒ Trees
From left to right:
⋒ Open/close basket
⋒ Colour match with peg dolls and cups
⋒ Russian doll layered puzzle
⋒ Lock and key
⋒ Colour box 1 with matching geometric solids
⋒ Counting ten frame
⋒ Fruits and vegetables matching cards
⋒ Sensory animal puzzle
