At the time of this shelf, my daughter was 28 months and her interests continued to be insects, numbers and letters so this shelf combined these with fine motor practice. We had also just begun looking at Space. A has been fascinated with astronauts and planets since.
It’s important to note that at this time, more than shelf activities she was mostly interested in practical life activities and pretend play. She was also working on trying to master skills like dressing herself and putting on shoes independently. She was spending a lot of time dressing herself with different creations as well as her stuffed bunnies and dolls. I note this so that you always keep realistic expectations for your own child. Offer the shelf activities, but keep your expectations low as at this age there is so much – a whole new world – competing for your toddler’s attention.
