Here’s a simple activity I set up for my three-year old on Valentine’s Day: a little tracing practice with our sand tray.
My daughter had been showing more of an interest in these types of activities so I thought it would be fun to practice some Valentine’s Day-inspired shapes. Writing on sand can be so calming and bring you right to the present moment.
Sand trays are a key pre-writing resource in Montessori education, helping children to improve their eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills.
Cleaning up is part of the learning process, so make sure to encourage your child to tidy up after they finish playing. Model how to do it until your child feels confident enough to initiate the tidying up process independently.
