This activity was so popular with my little one at two years old! The butterflies images are a free printable by Seashell Education and they are just gorgeous!
This activity provides a great opportunity to introduce the math concept of symmetry in a hands-on way. It also helps strengthen the child’s connection to the natural world and develop an appreciation for the beauty of creation. After this we introduced the life cycle of the butterfly and she loved it!
This activity also helps refine a number of other skills, including visual discrimination, fine motor, language development and hand-eye coordination.

Bringing play to life:
How about observing butterflies? If you don’t find enough butterflies where you live, present your child with educational National Geographic and NatGeo Kids videos about these amazing insects (available on YouTube).
